Qadr & FreeWill

The Qadr Of Allah
A basic understanding of the meaning of Qadr of Allah is that Allah has predestined this. This has been recorded in the Lauh Mahfuz, (اللوح المحفوظ), the preserved tablet. This means is that Allah swt knows everything before it happens, and as a result of His infinite knowledge, it has been recorded or written in the Preserved Tablet where all things are written.
Do We Really Have A Choice?
Free will and choice is the foundation of Islam. Choice is a matter of faith and if you are forced, it wouldn’t be a choice nor faith. Allah swt gave all Humans and Jinn the choice and freedom to choose as you will because your choices in life will demonstrate your faith or disbelief. Without choice, this life in the Dunya (world) would not serve its purpose. We would not be able to prove our faith to Allah.
Future & The Frame of Reference
In order to understand how QADR and FreeWill works, let's dive into the inner workings of the human mind.
For instance, if you know art, you'd know a masterpiece when you see one because you have referenced multiple pieces of art, made your choices, sharpened your preferences and have developed a good frame of reference.
So basically, you have a sense of what good art is through reference. The human brain functions by references. When it thinks about the "future" it "references" the past. And in our limited capacity we end up imagining the future the same as our past.
Limited Thoughts About QADR
Our QADR doesn't necessarily limit us, it's our limited beliefs that keep us stuck. It is extremely naive of the human brain because possibilities as it relates to the future are infinite and are only known to Allah S.W.T.
So when we are repeating thoughts like "my future looks the same as my past", I can’t lose weight because I have never been able to do it in the past, I cannot create a successful business because it has never happened before, I can’t get away from this abusive situation because I haven’t been able to do it in the past - we are actually projecting our limited frame of reference of the past to create our future! Which is a grave mistake!
This is because by doing so we are actually limiting the power of Allah, and on top of that we are calling it QADR like we KNOW what is written for us. Astaghfirullah!
Most of the time we are doing that unknowingly. But all of that is okay because we are in thought error. And we can work to correct that thought error.
Created Future Is Qadr
We don't know what's written for us. So Qadr when it relates to the future becomes a measure of what is possible. This implies that we have the FREEDOM to create any future we want, through the freedom of your thoughts, and Allah, the ALL KNOWING, already has knowledge of it.
Isn't that amazing?
So next time you have the urge to say "it’s the Qadr of Allah" by secretly implying that "hey I have no control or say in this", or that "it is written and Allah has decreed this so I should just accept it"- stop and do a bit of thought patrol. It'll definitely help you break free of your limiting beliefs.
